families
Many families come to Tremont after years of searching … carrying questions, frustration, and the feeling that traditional school isn't working. Tremont is for kids who love learning but not school.
Tremont may be the right fit for students who are curious, college and career capable, and ready for a more personalized approach to learning—where they can be known, challenged, and supported as their whole selves.
Every student’s story is different. Here are a couple that may feel familiar.
A child arrives in a classroom built for a different kind of brain altogether. The lights hum with fluorescent flickering. The hallways echo in harsh, grating ways. The schedule marches along whether or not she feels remotely ready to switch gears. Her flavor of genius reads as disruption. Her curiosity reads as defiance. Her overwhelm reads as an attitude that hopefully discipline will sort out. (It won’t.) She simply has nowhere to explore her genius.
Another child shows up each morning to a school where everything is, technically, fine. The grades are fine. The teachers are kind. The days run smoothly from bell to bell. But his questions keep outgrowing the worksheets. His ideas wait politely for assignments that never quite ask for them. His "doing well" reads as done — as if enough were the same thing as thriving. (It isn't.) He simply has nowhere to stretch his genius.
From a parent
“Our child feels at home and understood at Tremont.”
